Mercurial & Aneroid barometer overhauls. New mercurial tubes fitted complete with new glass balance and float. New bellows for aneroid barometers supplied. Dials re-waxed and re-silvered. New glasses fitted. Hygrometers attended to and missing parts obtained.
Having a highly skilled craftsman, based in Cheltenham, with whom I have worked for in excess of thirty years no job is deemed too difficult or awkward. From a wax polish through to fret cutting and moulding replacement. Marquetry repairs to renovating an item that has been the unfortunate victim of fire or flood and all done with conservation and originality in mind.
Chinoiserie (lacquer) case decoration renovation and repair can also be undertaken by a highly qualified specialist in this particular skill.
Whether a silvered or painted longcase clock dial, an intricate and delicately decorated enamel carriage clock dial or a paper/card American type dial all can be accommodated for restoration as required.
I appreciate that not everyone wants or even likes antique clocks so I also attend to all modern clocks that have issues. New quartz movements fitted, timepiece only or ¼ chiming. Servicing and overhaul to all mechanical clocks along with new part replacement should worn items be found.
I also repair automaton, musical boxes, compasses, sundials, hand wind gramophones and old typewriters.
