I have a longcase (Grandfather) clock that has been in the family since new c.1820 for which I now have responsibility and decided that some maintenance would be appropriate. After much investigation I approached a local antiques dealer who recommended Andrew. I was so pleased to find a local chap and I can only reiterate what is said in the other reviews. He provided accurate quotes and advice with regard options for the maintenance/repairs basic and overhaul plus he has a contact who restores the dial. Suffice to say that I had the overhaul and dial restoration undertaken with stunning results. Please be aware that the task takes a little while, a couple of months, but it is certainly worth the wait. The clock is a joy behold and a pleasure to see. Thank you, Andrew.

I/we am/are experienced clock collector/s of many years and frequently require the services of an expert horologist to look after my/our collection. Andrew was highly recommended by my partners sister, whom he had attended on in the past, to look at one of our rare and valuable London bracket clocks and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He is very knowledgeable, immensely thorough, highly professional, exceedingly understanding, very polite and totally honest and not without a sense of humour! He photographs and emails pictures of works undertaken as it proceeds and always quotes an exact amount for said reparations; if any further issues are discovered I/we am/are always consulted prior to my/our confirmation to proceed. In fairness, and for honesty in this review, I must just add that Andrew is very busy and his four to six-week turn around did turn into seven weeks but I am nit picking and maybe too critical. I cannot extol my recommendations further and thank him for the services he has proffered thus far. I/we will certainly be using him in the future as I/we have other items that require to 'be kept in order'. Julian Mitchell-Harkness OBE and Marcus Abbott.

We found out about Andrew Roan through a friend of a friend who mentioned how good and reliable he was in any kind of clock maintenance which is always a good sign being word of mouth so we decided to contact him ref our very old family Grandfather clock that had not been serviced for about 90 years and was looking a bit the worse for wear and we were concerned about its wellbeing. Andrew very soon came out to visit us and look at the clock taking it all out of the case to we could view it and he explained it to us in detail, he was also very informative and knowledgeable in his detail of age and repairs that it had had over time, we agreed that Andrew take it away for evaluation and sent us a e mailed receipt, he then sent us a series of quotations which we could pick from which we did so with his advice. It was really lovely to receive photos of the work being undertaken at every stage and also went to the trouble of picking out repairs marks and pointing them out to us which for us was a joy, he also identified a couple of things that he felt should be done in the process and we agreed to them which was very useful. He did all this work in very quick time as we mentioned that we would like it done in time for a 102nd birthday and he completed with plenty of time to spare. It was a joy to see when it was returned and he went to a lot of trouble explaining what was done, he also sent a detailed e mail with the work completed and with this and the photos it is a wonderful record going forward. Andy could not have been friendlier, helpful and honest in the way he approached and dealt with this service and repair and we will be returning to him with some more work in due course, we have no hesitation in recommending his work to others who require their various time pieces servicing or repairing and it is so good to know someone that one can trust with this work.

When I moved to Wiltshire, I had difficulty finding a reliable clockmaker to service some venerable clocks which I own. After a few disappointing experiences, a friend recommended Andrew Roan who had recently repaired an old clock for her. Since then, Andrew has carried out major work on three old family clocks (and an aneroid barometer) for me. On each occasion, I have been delighted with the high standard of his workmanship and service. He does not promise anything that he cannot deliver and he keeps to his promised completion date. His knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, clocks and barometers is very evident. Having seen his workshop, I can confirm that it is well-equipped and well-organised; reflecting his professionalism.

We have a c.1720's grandfather clock (found that it is actually called a longcase clock) and it was in a parlous state. This gentleman was recommended by a friend who had used him in the past and what a first-class service we had. Andrew, from Timescape, called and spent an age looking at the clock and explained what would be required. He also said we would have it back between 4 and six weeks, we were a bit apprehensive as we have had things repaired by other people in the past that took six months. He took it away and emailed an estimate, which was very competitive, and within a week we had photos of the work progressing, we were mightily impressed. Low and behold true to his word he emailed to say all was well and it was tested and ready to be delivered back well within his six-week timescale. It was brought back and it was like new, repaired, polished and ready to go. Fantastic! We would certainly recommend him and will definitely use him again, thank you Andrew very much.
